  • Shelley completed her Occupational Therapy degree in 1989. She first worked as an OT at Ghandi Road Rehabilitation centre where she was involved in setting up a general rehabilitation unit. Since then she has worked in private practice primarily in paediatrics (neurological conditions). She has also worked in general physical rehabilitation and hand therapy, and work capacity and medico-legal practise. Shelley has completed the coursework for her Occupational Therapy Masters degree in Neuroscience and is continuing with the research component. She has completed her training as a Sensory Integration Therapist (SCISIT 1995) and the SIPT. Shelley's areas of interest include outreach and community work and she has been involved in Malamulele Onwards, an NGO that offers services to children with Cerebral Palsy in remote areas of South Africa. Shelley is a Board Member of Malamulele Onwards, and has been involved in the organising and running of projects in South Africa.

  • Felicity Jonck
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Qualifications: B OT (UDW); BA (Hons) AAC (UP)
  • Felicity qualified as an occupational Therapist in 1992, and first worked at Addington Hospital in general physical and neurological rehabilitation, hand injuries, and paediatric intervention. Between 1995 and 1998 she worked in hospitals, rehabilitation centres and schools in the USA. When she returned to SA she joined a private practice which included work capacity assessments (for insurance and medico-legal purposes), work rehabilitation and prosthetic rehabilitation as services offered. Felicity has a BA Honours Degree in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). She is involved as a committee member with Interface KZN, and assists with AAC training workshops and awareness raising. Felicity has been involved in the revision of the Work Ability Screening Profile (WASP II) through the University of KZN and is a private sector representative on the WASP Committee.

  • Dee Pieterse
  • Office Manager
  • Dee Pieterse is our super-efficient, multi-tasking Office Manager / Personal Assistant who has been with our practice since 2002. She single-handedly controls our office and chaos would most definitely reign without her! Dee's formal background is in the clothing industry, where her main areas of interest were clothing design and pattern making. Her 15 years experience in the clothing industry is of great value to our practice when it comes to design and manufacture of individualised positioning equipment, splints and pressure garments.

  • Wiseman Makhathini
  • Assistant
  • Wiseman has worked as an Assistant at our practice for the past 4 1/2 years. He has various clerical and practical duties. He is also utilised as an Interpretor as needed. Wiseman manufactures equipment and adaptive devices as needed. Wiseman has developed skill in the manufacture of adapted switches for severely disabled children, and in adapting toys for switch access. He has a knowledge of carpentry, metalwork and general maintenance work.
